Since Penn State won, we don't care if prices were up!!! Haha!
Over 18, I brought my daughter in with us. As long as there is an adult
Agreed
We had 3 of the the 3 for $20 dinners. It was delicious! We had Blacked Salmon, Chicken Marsala, and prime rib. All 3 meals were great and you can't beat the price for Cape May!
We stumbled on this place trying to find our way back to our hotel. They had a band last night that was great! They played a variety of songs and the female singer had a great voice. Bartenders were very attentive, service excellent. Did not eat there so cannot comment on any food. Would definately recommend!
We had great food, drinks and awesome blues music by Frank Bey! Our Server Curt was the best. I highly recommend this establishment.
Really good food. Fair prices, Live music when i was there. Younger crowd but no trouble makers. Overall good place to go.
The food is meh. Tastes like arcade or frozen food which is deceiving because place is nice. Loved that it's very clean.
Cool restaurant and bar with a live music venue. There is a decent amount of space on the inside, especially when you take into account the whole other section away from the music area. Drinks were great and reasonably priced.
Margarita flat bread was just ok. The mustard-cheese-whatever sauce with the pretzels was great. Both clam chowders were good, though the wife was more orgasmic about the New England than I was about Manhattan. My fried fish didn't taste greasy at all. The def got that part right. But my wife's salad...A salad... Took a long time. Unreasonably long, arriving with weak explaining and minimal apology. It took us a minute to recover. Would we go back? Definitely.
Went to Carney’s last Sunday night to hear some music and have a few drinks - the Beatles/Billy Joel/Springsteen tribute band was fantastic! Stayed a lot later than we expected! Bartenders at the bar closest to the entrance were very good, too.
This is the one place when I'm in Cape May I go or if i'm an anywhere in the area I make sure to stop by Carney's. The staff is the very best Cape May has the food is the best. If your looking for the best Guacamole in New Jersey..... this just maybe what your looking for if not I think it is but even if you don't agree you will still have to say it's Good. We are always happy with the friendly bartenders and how great they take good care of my needs. Stop in you won't disagree
Great food and great service. The buff chick pizza is awesome
Good food, reasonable pricing, excellent service. You should definitely make it a point to stop in while in town. Maybe you will be lucky enough to have Kurt as your server. He was tentative and on point. Also he claimed to make the best mudslide, which my wife agreed on. Put applebees to shame. Applebees stinks anyway. Thanks Kurt for a wonderful dining experience,it's not easy and I saw you moving to make others enjoy as well. That's a lost trait. This is long winded because I don't normally take the time to write a review,so it means something that I did👍
Great food & awesome service. Love the bartenders here.
Servers are pretty nice. Lots of seafood options but if you get a side salad the lettuce is already mixed with balsamic dressing which you can't change. This was very weird. We overheard a table complaining about this . Other then that experience here was alright. The people watching from the windows was great !😂
I went to Carney's "the room next door" with my family. The food wasn't terrific but it was good. My two and four year olds ate the kids pizza and loved it. The service was good and our waitress was nice. I don't have any complaints but also it's nothing special too write home about.
I will admit I was rude tonight. I waited a long time for a drink and when I finally got served I made a comment: it’s about time! But it was just sarcasm (I even had a smirk on my face when I said it ). The young bartender did not take it that way. Instead of serving me he decided to tell me he’d punch me in the face if I didn’t leave (since he saw me as being rude). Being a teacher I wanted to avoid altercation so I said I was sorry several times and I just wanted my card and I’d leave. He gave me a very hard time making threats that he’d beat me up. An older patron eventually gave me my card back and I left. It’s my first time i’ve came to Cape May and it’s unfortunate this happened. I would have given the place a 5 honestly because I had a lot of fun, but it gets a one. I will make sure NOT to recommend this place until matters are resolved.
My wife and I visited a few days ago for lunch. We were promptly seated and our server was very attentive. My wife had the blackened salmon which she still has not stopped raving about. The salmon was cooked to perfection and all the flavors were there to accompany it. I had the chicken club, the breast nice and juicy, not dry and there chipotle aioli is very good. Would certainly recommend this restaurant and visit again.
Terrible service.. terrible food.. never coming back.. say in the back and it smelled so bad.. had a ceiling tile in bathroom fall on me
Horrible bartenders! A dark-haired light eyed guy who Wasn't Man Enough to tell his real name or bright enough to recognize that two new people had been sitting at his bar with dirty glasses in front of them for more than 5 minutes and then proceeded to start to wait on a woman who had just walked up next to us before acknowledging us. When I said something he chose to argue with me for several more minutes while no one was getting any drinks rather than just do the right thing. If that's how they're going to be on Saturday nights all summer do yourself a favor and go somewhere else that has professional bartenders, or at least polite ones.
Always a jamming time at Carney's. Band on one side DJ on the other. Dance floor was poppin once we got there.
A fun place to dance to good cover bands on a holiday weekend. The $10 cover charge is a bit steep but can be negotiated down to $5. Avoid the bartenders in the back half of the room, who focus their attention on regulars and seem to delight in ignoring most everyone else.
I enjoyed my meal at this restaurant as well as the service.
Two Carney’s employees just accosted me outside of the Mad Batter. They made strange homophobic comments and turned around in some threatening manner. Both were wearing Carney’s shirts. I’ve enjoyed drinking at Carney’s in the past, but I will never give them my money again based on this interaction.
We loved this place, food was good & the atmosphere was very fun.
Great location. Food and service is better when they are not busy. We stop here at least once when in town.
Great time. Good drinks. Disappointed they didn't have rumple mints shots. Friendly staff though.
Carney's is one of my favorite bars in South Jersey! The crowd is fun and diverse and the music is good. The atmosphere is awesome and it lends itself to a good time whether you are there to eat it just drink and dance.
*2018 update* Karaoke is rigged. Judges are extremists. Good luck. Go somewhere else. Your ears will thank you.Didn't have the food. We came for a midnight birthday party and the dueling atmospheres are.. interesting. This seems to be the place that the young-ins go to, as evidenced by the wanna-be club-like atmosphere you encounter when walking in. During the day, Carney's is an old man bar featuring a nice, long wooden surface bar and elegant dining room. At night, the black lights come on and the music gets cranked up. Way up. It'll probably be so crowded that you won't be able to move and drinks will be a $10 average. If you venture across to the newly renovated bar, you'll see bright lights and a 3 foot stage. This seems to be the only bar that features nightly entertainment until 2am. This place is great for singles and creeps.
Came to see Lecompt. Fantastic band.
We stopped by Carney’s bc a friend recommended it and they have a very good service and also the room right next to the restaurant (which is part of Carney’s) had a karaoke night. It was really fun to watch all the groups singing. It is a hot spot for drinks and fun for a late night out.The place is very nice, food was good and prices are a little high, but it might be also related to the area that they areWe had a great experience and I would recommend to stop by!
definitely not one of the places to check out in the area but if you are looking for a quick bite or drink give it a try it's not that bad. the service needs to step it up a notch
First time here. Awesome little spot. Our server was friendly and the food came out fast. 2/3 ain't that bad.. AGREED!! Will def recommend.
Had dinner there last night and it was delicious! Five of us all had something different and we were all very pleased. Will definitely go again!
Great weekend down here. Shawn and the family do an awesome job. I know where I'm going when I'm in cape May
Nice place across from the beach
I really enjoy it here. Food is great. Great happy hour special 7 days a week from 4 to 6. 25% off your entire bill including food and drinks. Staff is friendly and helpful. I've noticed that some people have reviewed Carneys mistakenly as just a bar/tavern but it is both a restaurant and tavern so although they make great "bar" food they also make good restaurant food. The selection of food is great. Personally I think it's the best burger I've had anywhere.
We arrived at Carney’s Other Room to an unattended front of house for over 10 minutes. Finally the hostess showed up and said they were full but could seat us in the main room next door. Upon being seated, it took over 15 minutes for the waitress to come over. Upon ordering she collecting all of our IDs and took them in the back. She said they have had a lot of 16 year olds trying to drink. Not my problem. We are close to 30. Also, we ordered and the waitress left all the menus sitting in front of us. The manager came back 20 minutes later, after we saw him taking pictures of them in the back. We said we would take our IDs back and leave because we’ve never been treated like this in all the major international cities we have been to, let alone Cape May, NJ. we decided to leave as the service was terrible, they took pictures of our IDs and accused 30 year olds with legit IDs of being 16. How would they like it if ICE came in asking to see all of their staffs VISAS?
Cold food, water down drinks, all throw away containers. Long waits. Disappointed.
Great service. Good lunch place to duck out of the heat. Lobster mac and cheese!
We had a blast at Carney’s. From our pre-wedding reception Friday night to beer pong on Saturday night. The place to be is at Carney’s. Thank you Sean for helping to plan our group party. Your team there treated us so special and they were so friendly. We love Carney’s and our whole family had a blast.
The steak house burger was by far, the very best burger that I have had in many years. You really gotta try it if you like juicy burgers, nice rolls, carmelized onions, awesome bacon and some blue cheese! Wanted to go back the next day for it again, wife said no!
This is a casual fun sports restaurant and bar. We happened to stop there for lunch while visiting Cape May, NJ. It was during a Sunday football game, and the people there were having a great time watching the game on the many big TV's and expressing their excitement. There are special mixed drinks ( we had the refreshing orange crush) and food served during the games on Sunday and I have included a menu. We had a very generous and robust Cobb salad and the warm roast beef sandwich , one of the specials. Instead of potato chips, for $2 extra, get the fries which were crispy and not greasy. Service was excellent. I was glad I had a light sweater to put on as it was rather cold from the A/C.
Service was a little slow. But we were seated next to the bar and it was in the evening. The burgers and loaded fries were amazing. And they have beers from the local breweries on tap.
We went to Carney's for a quick bite and a drink to escape the rain. We decided to sit at the bar. We were greeted by a super friendly bartender names Dagmara. We also saw that they had Sunday football specials. We got our drinks quicky and once we ordered food it came out in record time!! The drinks were so good and the food was amazing. I highly recommend this place for it's great atmosphere and good food. Dagmara was a 10! I will be returning and hope to see her again.
I went here with my family years ago and it was great. However our recent visit was a huge change. It’s more akin to a chain restaurant now where a lot of the food seems like it was frozen and/or heated up. Service is very slow. They forgot to bring something when we asked. I probably can't blame the servers themselves because they apparently have the servers make milkshakes and wait tables. And this is made a little worse by the fact that drinks are served in small plastic cups requiring frequent refills. I won’t be going back anymore.
Not a great place to eat. We waited over an hour and a half for just a couple burgers and wings.
Didn't know kids were allowed to sit at the bar in New Jersey. Very annoying
Attended wedding reception here. Food was outstanding and staff great. Has an old feel to the decor. A definite local favorite and summer visitors. Will come again
Great place and reasonable pricing!!
My wife and I ate here after shopping. The server, Iris was very nice, helpful and attentive. I had the coconut shrimp special and my wife had the crab cake special. The restaurant was clean and the service and food was great. We would definitely eat here again if we ever come back.
